"When I just moved to Tokyo, what kind of place is Tokyo?" I remember going to visit various cities alone, thinking about it. I heard that there is a planetarium in Ikebukuro. I wanted to see it, but I didn't come in after all (laughs)." Ikebukuro is a city where Kazumi Arimura strolled alone when he was a teenager. With such nostalgic memories in mind, a shop cruise on the New Balance, which opened at the Ikebukuro P’ PARCO store in September last year. He also talked about the joy of expressing as an actor and the driving force behind it.

At the intersection of sports and culture
An official store that embodies the New Balance
New Balance was established in Boston, United States in 1906 as a manufacturer of arch-supported insoles and orthodontic shoes for people with flat feet or broken legs. The name of the company is derived from the fact that it brings a sense of "new (new) and balance" to the wearer. In the 1960s, he started developing the world's first custom-made running shoes, utilizing his knowledge and know-how in orthopedic surgery and motor physiology cultivated in the manufacture of orthodontic shoes. He established himself as a shoemaker that gained tremendous popularity among runners. The New Balance sneakers, with a fit feeling that makes you forget to wear them and the ability to support the movement of your feet, are supported by many fans, from those who use them on a daily basis to passionate collectors.
Mr. Kazuzumi Arimura visited the New Balance Ikebukuro P’ PARCO store, which opened last September. The center of the experience at the shop is based on the concept of "people" rather than "products", and with carefully selected items and visual storytelling, the new balance at the intersection of sports and culture focuses on the creators and their origins behind the products.
You can find your own style
Places where communities are born
From the setup of jackets and bottoms made from New Balance original functional materials to casual items, the Ikebukuro P’ PARCO store has an attractive lineup of items that suit each lifestyle, both athletes and fashionistas. The circular community circle, symbolically placed in the center of the shop, is designed to create naturally communication between neighbors, making it a shop where people can come together and get inspiration from each other to find their own style. In addition, the store has a "3D scanning" that can measure feet from 360 degrees. We have shoe fitters qualified staff and suggest shoes that fit your feet.
Mr. Arimura wears a new color from the 1906R, a reconstructed "1906", which symbolizes running shoes in the 2000s. The standard color is combined with a sporty accent color and silver. Arimura says that he is private and loves New Balance shoes. "I usually wear it with a dress. These shoes, which are accented by silver like enamel, can be worn nicely with a skirt."
I want to be flat in my private life.
My Rule of Kasumi Arimura
"What I value in my daily life is being flat. That's why there are few things in the house. There are many opportunities to meet many people, and when you go out, you will get a lot of information, so I want to flatten it once, including the undulations of emotions in my personal life and my time. My rule is not to put shoes on the entrance."
The sweatshirt that Arimura picked up while doing a shop cruise is "Sportswear Greatest Hits Half Zip Sweat" inspired by classic college sports culture. In addition, what I would like to pay attention to as the season mood is the "327" KHAKI color with the Big N logo on a retro form that arranges a number of New Balance racing shoes that swept the 70s, and the Dragon Year, the zodiac sign of 2024, with the color ring inspired by the Kowloon Wall "SALT 190". We want to meet your favorite spring-like items that enrich your lifestyle.
"If you continue, somewhere
There's a moment when something gets stuck."
Mr. Arimura has been leaving many masterpieces as an artist since debuting in 2010, such as the serial TV novels "Ama-chan", "Hiyoko", "Movie Billigal", and "Love like a bouquet". He told me about the joy of expressing as an actor.
"Of course, there were times when I broke my heart thinking that it wasn't suitable for the play. I wonder if it's a wall that will hit again in the future. But the one who watched it said, "This work remains in my heart very much," but because there are people who say so, it is rewarding for me. I'm making a work while thinking, "I want you to remain in someone's heart." I will do my best again if I can actually hear it as a voice."
It is not an exaggeration to say that it is an actor representing the people. It is said that Arimura also has a moment when his heart seems to be broken. Still, what is the driving force that makes me want to continue the expressionist?
"That's……It may be a power to believe, but if you continue, I think there will be moments when something gets stuck somewhere. You can't find it unless you continue. So, even if you stumble somewhere, "If you continue, there is absolutely good thing." I think I believe it is something."
